Letters of Recommendation
Please provide two (2) letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your personal character, your accomplishments, and your interest in agriculture. One (1) letter should be from non-family members and one (1) should be from a faculty member or school administrator.
Essay
Please provide an essay, not to exceed 1000 words, on “Why I am pursuing an agriculture related career.”
Essay should also include long term academic and career goals, experiences from clubs such as 4-H and FFA, school, and work that has led to the decision to pursue a career in agriculture, and why student is deserving of the DeKalb County Corn & Soybean Growers Senior Agriculture Scholarship.
Additional Documentation
Please attach a certified copy of your current academic transcript and a current resume or list of activities, awards and honors. Resume/list of activities should not exceed two (2) pages.
Introduction
The DeKalb County Corn & Soybean Growers will recognize one deserving high school senior with a one-time $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a student pursuing a career in agriculture.
Eligibility
To apply for the DeKalb County Corn & Soybean Growers scholarship, the student must meet the following requirements:
- Be a high school senior
- Be a son or daughter of a parent or guardian who is a current member of the DeKalb County Corn or Soybean Growers Association
- Be pursuing an ag-related degree in the fall of 2017 at a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
Application Process
The application may be attained at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau website: www.dekalbfarmbureau.org, and must be completed and returned to the DeKalb County Farm Bureau by the April 14, 2017 deadline. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure all documents are included with the essay application (letters of recommendation, high school transcripts, and current resume).
